A fashion collection inspired by the speed, precision, culture, engineering, and infrastructure of Formula 1.
Behind the Designs
Formula 1 exists both as an engineering spectacle and cultural landscape. It is a technologically extreme sport where global brands, media infrastructures, and fan rituals come together. The cars themselves are constructed as high speed vehicles, but they also operate symbolically; signifiers of power, order, innovation, and collaboration. They move through international circuits celebrated for history and danger, with surfaces, corners, and curvatures that become globally recognisable spatial symbols. Within the world, fans perform identity: through colour, affiliation, language, and participation. Similarly, fashion functions as a site where identity is both embodied and declared.
This two-ensemble collection situates itself within a cultural field that interrogates the visual politics of speed, belonging, engineering, and spectacle. Drawing from aerodynamic shaping and the curvature of the Eau Rouge corner at Spa-Francorchamps, the garments translate motorsport infrastructure into a dressmaking language, where structure, contour, and detailing evoke both motion and precision.
Formula 1 race-wear construction informs the collection’s material, visual language and appearance, with grid-based stitching, tyre compound colour references, and flo-vis inspired red spray details merging technical performance with contemporary fashion. The use of reclaimed seatbelts within the collection insert the presence of the body at risk, evoking the tension between control and vulnerability that defines the relationship between driver and machine.
Together, the collection honors Formula 1 not simply as a sports reference, but as a system of codes, aesthetics, and behaviours. In this context, the garments operate as a translation of extreme infrastructure into fashion, where performance and identity co-produce meaning.
